| Update on the U16s Kent Youth League squad |
| Jan 21,2009 |
The U16s have had a mixed season so far. We lost our forward, David Adedipe, to Millwall at the beginning of the season. By all accounts he is doing well making it into the U18s squad and playing in the FA Cup for them. Plus there were county trials for Kent FA, which we had 7 players make the last 22-man squad and regularly having 4-5 players picked for county duties on a Sunday. This, combined with the weather, has played havoc with our league games. We have progressed better in the cups – making the League Cup semi- final against VCD, which is the same fixture we had last year and beat them to get to our first final that season. [Full Story] |

Saturday Youth AFA Cup 17th Jan 09 Bethwin FC U15 v Welling United U15 We have travelled away for all Saturday Cup fixtures so far and this journey was by far the most challenging. I was up early to go and pick up players from Thamesmead. Amazingly the Captain (Nelson) who allegedly was not coming was the only one at the meeting point at the scheduled time. Eventually we set off for Tooting Bec where the fixture was to take place. There must be at least 28 traffic lights on this tedious journey down the South Circular. We picked up Tanega on the way who had just finished a trial with the District team. The journey took over an hour and we arrived only 30 minutes before kick-off. Still we were encouraged that there was no sign of the home team so we thought maybe we were in with a chance. [Full Story] |
