Welling United U18's Kent North v Charlton Athletic U18's Representative Side
Monday 24th November 2008

On Monday night Welling United Youth had the opportunity to visit
Sparrows Lane to play against a Charlton Athletic representative side.

The game started brightly with Welling taking the opportunity to trial
a potential new player and also give much needed competitive match time
to some of the younger squad members.

After the initial period of getting used to the 3g surface both teams
settled into their games and started to pass the ball quite well,
causing each other problems when in possession. The Charlton line up
boasted players with academy backgrounds and they certainly caused our
players plenty of problems in the early stages, taking the lead after
about 15 minutes.

This, however, seemed to spur on our players and for the remainder of
the first half we actually got better and better with the equaliser
coming as Conor Webb managed to poke the ball home in a crowded penalty box following a couple of Welling corners in quick succession.
