| Welling United U18's Kent North v Charlton Athletic U18's Representative Side |
| Monday 24th November 2008 On Monday night Welling United Youth had the opportunity to visit Sparrows Lane to play against a Charlton Athletic representative side. The game started brightly with Welling taking the opportunity to trial a potential new player and also give much needed competitive match time to some of the younger squad members. After the initial period of getting used to the 3g surface both teams settled into their games and started to pass the ball quite well, causing each other problems when in possession. The Charlton line up boasted players with academy backgrounds and they certainly caused our players plenty of problems in the early stages, taking the lead after about 15 minutes. This, however, seemed to spur on our players and for the remainder of the first half we actually got better and better with the equaliser coming as Conor Webb managed to poke the ball home in a crowded penalty box following a couple of Welling corners in quick succession.
